Privacy
One form on this site asks you for one thing: an email address, so the brief can reach you. Here is exactly what happens to it.

The short version
We collect an email address when you hand us one, we keep it in a private store, we use it to send you the newsletter, and we delete it the moment you ask. Nothing is sold, rented, or handed to an advertising network. There are no ad trackers on this site.
What we collect
- Your email address
- Only when you type it into a subscribe box and press Subscribe. Nothing else on the site captures it.
- The page you subscribed from
- The path of the page the form sat on, such as /about or a brief. It tells the desk which stories bring readers in. It is a page path, not a browsing history.
- The date and time
- A timestamp written when the record is saved, so we know how long you have been on the list.
- Research requests
- If you use the "Give me info" button, the text you type and the page you sent it from are logged so the desk can work the request into a future brief. No email address is attached to it.
- Nothing else
- No name, no company, no phone number, no mailing address, no payment details. We do not ask for them and there is nowhere on the site to give them.
Where it is stored
Subscriber records live in a private blob store on Vercel, the company that hosts this site. Each record is a single small file holding the three items above, reachable only with a server key that is not present in the public site. Repeat signups from the same address overwrite the same record instead of stacking duplicates.
What we use it for
One thing: sending you The Restoration HQ newsletter. Editions go out by blind copy, so no other subscriber ever sees your address. The list is not used for sales outreach for any other product, is not loaded into a third-party marketing platform, and is not sold, rented, traded, or shared.
How to unsubscribe
Go to the unsubscribe page, enter the same address, and submit. That writes a permanent do-not-send marker and deletes your subscriber record, so a later bulk import cannot quietly put you back on. Every edition also carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If either one fails you, email Jake@buildaxiom.ai and it gets done by hand.
Cookies, storage, and logs
- One cookie, and only for the team
- Signing in to the private team area sets a cookie named hq_team that proves the sign-in happened. Public readers never receive it. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies anywhere on this site.
- Your theme choice
- Light or dark mode, and anything you have typed into the "Give me info" box, are saved in your own browser's local storage. That never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
- Page counts
- Aggregate page views come from Vercel's built-in analytics, which is cookieless and does not build a profile of an individual reader.
- Server logs
- Standard web request logs, including the requesting IP address, are kept briefly by the host for security and rate limiting. They are not joined to the subscriber list.
Your choices
Write to Jake@buildaxiom.ai and you can ask what we hold for your address, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Deletion means the record is removed from storage, not flagged and kept. There is no charge and no form to fill out.
This site is written for working adults in the restoration and insurance trades. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
