Privacy
One form on this site asks you for one thing: an email address, so the brief can reach you. Here is exactly what happens to it.

The short version
We collect an email address when you hand us one, we keep it in a private store, we use it to send you the newsletter, and we stop sending when you unsubscribe. Nothing is sold, rented, or handed to an advertising network. There are no ad trackers on this site.
What we collect
- Your email address
- Only when you type it into a subscribe box and press Subscribe. Nothing else on the site captures it.
- The page you subscribed from
- The path of the page the form sat on, such as /about or a brief. It tells the desk which stories bring readers in. It is a page path, not a browsing history.
- The date and time
- A timestamp written when the record is saved, so we know how long you have been on the list.
- Research requests
- If you use the "Give me info" button, the text you type and the page you sent it from are logged so the desk can work the request into a future brief. No email address is attached to it.
- Nothing else
- No name, no company, no phone number, no mailing address, no payment details. We do not ask for them and there is nowhere on the site to give them.
Where it is stored
Subscriber records are stored privately. Existing records are retained with Vercel; forms connected to Supabase store new subscription and unsubscribe records there. A subscription is confirmed only after its record is saved. If the service is unavailable, the form offers a way to contact the desk. Public articles can be served separately as static files without reading subscriber records. Migrated records are held in a private database reached through the server; its secret key is not present in the public site. Netlify hosts the public files and private form handler. Repeat signups update one record instead of stacking duplicates; unsubscribe markers prevent accidental re-mailing.
What we use it for
One thing: sending you The Restoration HQ newsletter. Editions go out by blind copy, so no other subscriber ever sees your address. The list is not used for sales outreach for any other product, is not loaded into a third-party marketing platform, and is not sold, rented, traded, or shared.
How to unsubscribe
Go to the unsubscribe page, enter the same address, and submit. That writes a do-not-send marker and attempts to remove the matching subscriber record. The sender checks suppression markers even if removal fails or an older subscriber record remains. An explicit new signup clears the marker. Every edition also carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If either one fails you, email Jake@buildaxiom.ai and it gets done by hand.
Cookies, storage, and logs
- One cookie, and only for the team
- Signing in to the private team area sets a cookie named hq_team that proves the sign-in happened. Public readers never receive it. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies anywhere on this site.
- Your theme choice
- Light or dark mode, and anything you have typed into the "Give me info" box, are saved in your own browser's local storage. Saved stories and followed topics are also stored in this browser, without account sync or email alerts. Form text is sent only when you submit it; a research request stores its text and page in our private store.
- Team drafts
- Team members can explicitly save versioned drafts and review evidence in the private store. Browser recovery copies remain on the device. Team access is required to read saved versions.
- Page counts
- The static publication does not add browser analytics or advertising trackers. Hosting providers may retain request logs for operation and security.
- Form abuse prevention
- Forms use a salted request identifier to limit repeated submissions. The raw IP address is not stored in the form database, and these rate-limit records are not joined to subscription or research-request records.
- Server logs
- Standard web request logs, including the requesting IP address, are kept briefly by the host for security and rate limiting. They are not joined to the subscriber list.
Your choices
Write to Jake@buildaxiom.ai and you can ask what we hold for your address, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Unsubscribing and deleting all data are different: an unsubscribe marker is retained to prevent accidental re-mailing. Ask the desk separately for deletion of stored personal data. There is no charge and no form to fill out.
This site is written for working adults in the restoration and insurance trades. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
