How we report
What makes a story useful
We look for changes to staffing, pricing, documentation, collections, compliance, safety and ownership that affect restoration operators. Finance and acquisitions remain part of that coverage. Humor belongs in the voice; facts still need evidence.
Discovery is not verification
The source map contains feeds and web-search targets. A feed run applies its requested date window, removes previously seen URLs, and records failures. Web-search targets are not counted as checked merely because they appear on that map. The edition date is not necessarily the date the event happened or its source was published.
Sources and editorial judgment
Every story links to its source. Those links are the starting point for checking the reporting, not proof that every claim has been independently confirmed. Source type and confidence sit alongside the links. Our assessment is editorial interpretation. Vendor statements, allegations and estimates require attribution; a lawsuit is not a finding, and a product announcement is not proof of effectiveness.
Exact figures and visible uncertainty
Preserve reported figures, units, denominators and comparison periods. Do not round a number down to sound conservative. Explain disagreements and missing information. New editions can include explicit event dates, source dates, operator actions and unknowns; older entries may not have all of those fields.
Review and corrections
The team can save versions, attach source excerpts, and record a named review against a checklist. Those checks are human attestations, not an automated truth score. A reviewed draft still requires a publishing decision. Corrections should identify what changed and revisit related drafts. Archived mentions do not count as successful predictions without an outcome assessment.
Our commercial interest
AXIOM is the only promoted business. The editor builds AXIOM, so coverage of estimating software carries a disclosed commercial interest. Sources appear before the product promotion on story pages.

When we publish
Restoration HQ ships one edition a week, on Tuesday morning. The sweep runs on a schedule and skips any day that is not a Tuesday, so the rhythm is steady rather than reactive: a quiet news week still gets a brief, it just runs shorter. Further back in the archive you'll see a looser pattern, sometimes two briefs in a week and sometimes a gap, from before the desk moved to a fixed weekly clock.
